3 Cuban Style Casino & Rueda de Casino Classes Available!
This class will set you up for dancing Cuban-style salsa, either Casino with a partner, or Rueda de Casino with a group.
You will learn basic positions: closed, open (guapea) and dile que no, basic footwork: guapea, closed position basic, abajo and arriba tiempo españa, and transitions and basic turns such as enchufla, escóndela, dile que no, exhíbela, vacila, paseo and paséala. We will work on stepping forward, pivoting and rotating through the dance floor as well as body movement, basic styling and musicality. This class is for people with NO dance experience or people with some Latin dance experience. 3 months in this class will prepare you for intermediate Casino partnerwork and/or Rueda de Casino classes where you will learn turn patterns and calls. You will learn Casino turn patterns and sequences, building on all of the fundamentals. Casino is also known as Cuban salsa. We will dance to Timba music and build your confidence in leading and following in a distinct Casino style, stepping forward through your turns and pivoting. Requirement for this class: a grasp of Casino fundamentals such as dile que no, enchufla, guapea, escóndela, vacila and exhíbela. No partner is needed.
Rueda de Casino is a totally unique, high energy dance in a circle, with a caller. The group executes moves and turns, constantly switching partners. It is addictive and amazing fun. Rueda dancers love the feeling of community and the challenge of responding to ever more complex calls. People all over the world know the calls, so once you learn Rueda you can have fun anywhere you go.
In this class you will learn a wide range of standard Rueda calls, building up your Rueda vocabulary and chops. Requirement for this class: a grasp of Casino fundamentals such as dile que no, enchufla, guapea, escóndela, vacila and exhíbela. No partner is needed.
