Abraham Ruiz
Current 2019 World Champion Men’s Shines Duo at The World Salsa Championships in Miami.
Abraham started dancing from the age of 13 by being a part of different Quinceanera events, in which I would grasp the basic movements of various styles; including salsa, bachata, merengue, waltz, cha-cha, cumbia, and hip-hop. Soon, by the age of 17, he was able to independently begin to choreograph and produce various quinceaneras.
During his high school years, he was part of his first dance team, and he gained more technical training as well as performance experience. While being part of this team, he was able to show his leadership skills and become the second in charge while being president of the team’s E-board.
Later, he joined his 1st professional team, Alma Chicago, in which he has worked with various talented directors and instructors. In addition, he started to teach at Latin Street Music & Dancing in December of 2018.
In January of 2019, he competed at the World Salsa Championships in Miami where he took 1st place in the Men Shines Duo & placed 2nd as member of The Alma Chicago AM Team category.
