Edson Cabrera (aka Edson De Cuba) is a highly trained and experienced dancer and choreographer from Cuba. He graduated from the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte in Dance in 2005, where he was introduced under the guidance of top instructors. While at the National School of Art in Havana, he participated in the ITs Festival in the Netherlands under the direction of Feri de Geus and Noortje Bijvoets. After graduation, he joined the Cuban dance company Ballet Rakatan as a soloist before becoming a member of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba in 2007.

A Dancer of International Renown

As a Danza Contemporánea de Cuba member, Edson has participated in numerous international tours to countries such as England, Mexico, Hungary, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia, and the USA. He has also performed in various festivals, including the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Mercat de Les Flors in Barcelona, Brisbane Festival, Manchester International Festival, The Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, and Virginia Arts Festival. Edson was made Principal Dancer in 2010, showcasing his talent and skill on stage.

Choreographer and Instructor

After moving to Chicago in 2012, Edson “De Cuba” Cabrera began teaching formalized Timba, Rumba, and Casino Salsa at several locations. He also promotes Cuban-style dances to the general public at nightclubs and cultural events, sharing his passion for dance and culture with others. Edson has worked with many talented choreographers, including Rafael Bonachela, Carlos Junior Acosta, George Céspedes, Julio César Iglesias, Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola, Mats Ek, Itzik Galili, and Pedro Ruiz. His diverse experiences as a dancer and choreographer have helped shape his unique teaching style and approach.
