We are looking for Dance Instructors who are energetic and knowledgeable in one or more of the following rhythms: Salsa On1/On2, Cumbia, and Cha Cha Cha.
Job Overview:
Latin Street is one of the largest Latin dance studios and entertainment companies in the United States. We are dedicated to providing Latin dance lessons and entertainment for all events in an all-inclusive, welcoming environment.
Experience teaching adults is a plus, though not required. We value educational degrees in related fields. We have flexible teaching hours daily, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Monday to Friday and 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturdays. Our current locations include Chicago’s South Loop, Evanston, and Elmwood Park.
Qualification:
- Ability to perform activities that require sustained concentration and attention.
- Ability to effectively engage participants as a public speaker.
- Ability to work with and be sensitive to others while always portraying an upbeat coaching style.
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients, guests, and staff using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
- Prior experience in Group Fitness, Personal Training, Leading Public Events, etc.
- Excellent time management.
Essential Functions of a Dance Instructor:
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Follow the detailed schedule provided by the supervisor and have the knowledge and understanding of the specialized moves and techniques required to implement the lesson plans.
- Be reliable and inform the desk staff of any conflicts at least 24 hours before the work day of any issues or items required.
- Communicate upcoming events and studio news to students.
- Encourage and support staff and students to provide an enjoyable environment.
- Develop compelling, engaging, and motivating classes accompanied by appropriate playlists.
- Provide excellent service to members and participants.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Hourly payment ranges from $25.70 to $100 per hour during special events.
In addition to regular classes, there are opportunities to teach after-school programs, field trips, and public/private lessons during special events. As part of our team, you’ll be exposed to the dance community in Chicago, work with diverse students, and expand your teaching skills. Latin Street meets all federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements.
