Luis Cabrera
A Chicagoland native, Luis has been a natural talent in the dance scene.
His organized dancing training started with FUEGO DANCE COMPANY (2014-2017), Directed by Maritza and Emmanuel Crespo. Fuego introduced Luis to fusion salsa, bachata, and hip hop.
His enthusiasm lead him to join SIX SEVEN Dance Company (2015-2016) directed by Chris Rios. At Six seven he specifically focused on salsa On2.
Aside from performance, Luis was very quickly attracted by competitions, which led him to join Kinetics Dance Company(2016-2018) directed by Miguel Pagan, where he continued his focus on Salsa On2.
While training to compete on Salsa On2, he also explored competition for Bachata as he joined Alma Latina Dance Company (2017-2019) directed by Jonathan Rivera and later same gender performance with Orenda’s Dance Company (2018-2019) directed by Jesus Aguilera.
Aside from his own dancing skills, Luis derives an extensive instructor training background from teaching to swim professionally as he worked for the Chicago Park District from June 2013- January 2020 as a Swim Instructor, Senior Guard & Lifeguard, and he is also CPR/AED/FIRST AID Certified.
Over the last 7 years until today, he teaches to swim all levels and all ages at the Park Districts, & local gyms.
Now he splits his time between swimming and dancing as he offers to teach over 20 Salsa & Bachata classes per week for adults & kids at Latin Street!
