Jacob S. Heiss aka “Just Jacob” is a Chicago-based artist, producer, and DJ with residency credits at such venues as Sound-Bar, The Apartment, Subterranean, and more.

During a cross country tour in 2015, he learned about the genre of Brazilian zouk and decided to pursue dance training with some of the most talented instructors in the world, such as Ivo Vieira (Portugal / Miami), Shani Mayer (Israel / LA), Arthur Santos (Brazil / Spain), Layssa Liebscher (Brazil / Australia), Pedrinho & Linda Mattos (Brazil / UK), Paulo Victor & Luisa Teston (Brazil / Miami), and more.

From this foundation, Jacob transitioned to instructing Brazilian zouk dancing technique while creating a number of remixes to augment his DJaying as well as producing a multitude of special events, including the first and largest festival for Brazilian zouk in the Midwest, Future Zouk Chicago Congress.

Jacob’s instructional style focuses on mastery of the fundamentals of Brazilian zouk coupled with a celebration of and deep engagement with its cultural context.

Jacob has been a featured artist for the genre not only in Chicago but also NYC, LA, Miami, San Francisco, Denver, Nashville, and more.

Today, he is thrilled to share his knowledge and passion for the genre with the Latin Street Music & Dancing community.
